Redirecting the Pipeline: School-to-Programming

It is reported that by the third grade, a child’s trajectory is either leading them to college or the prison industrial complex. Many educators, researchers and organizations have sought solutions to break the vicious pipeline that exists in Black and Latino communities – some succeeding and unfortunately some failing. But why – is there a lack of resources, a shortage of willing participants or is this just the inevitable? The answer is none of the above, we just need to provide new options.

  1. Examine the impact of a widening opportunity and achievement gap on the future earning potential of Black and Latinx students.
  2. Learn how coding and other tech pathway programs provide a new option for redirecting students and vulnerable youth
  3. Discover how to utilize new methods in school, home and support program environments to break cycles of social ills

120mins; Fireside Chat; 4 Speaker Panel w/ Q&A
